Culver's Root

I've spent the winter working up my new shade garden in my head. So, I was just on the shade gardening forum looking for a tall plant to place along the back of it and I saw Culver's root mentioned. Does anyone in our area grow this plant? I need to know how tall it will get, can I grow it from seed (I don't do anything from seed that grows slow or takes more than one season to bloom). If I buy plants does anyone know where I can get them? And most importantly, how much shade can they take? Thanks in advance for any info.
