Culver's Root

I've spent the winter working up my new shade garden in my head. So, I was just on the shade gardening forum looking for a tall plant to place along the back of it and I saw Culver's root mentioned. Does anyone in our area grow this plant? I need to know how tall it will get, can I grow it from seed (I don't do anything from seed that grows slow or takes more than one season to bloom). If I buy plants does anyone know where I can get them? And most importantly, how much shade can they take? Thanks in advance for any info.

It looks awesome in groups from pictures I've seen. I wouldn't mind a few. I've actually started to plant native perennials around the house, so I think I will give this a try.

It grows beautifully in my garden in full sun. I have 2 kinds. I'm in Ulster county.

It's always amazing to me how old threads pop up years later! If you look at the dates I started the thread 9 years ago..lol. I don't even remember what culvers root is anymore. However, my gardens are way more extensive than they were 9 years! I don't even need any more plants....except maybe a few peonies, and a few.......
