 o
Clare's of Patterson

Their new catalog is out and it's a beauty. No prices given which undoubtedly means they are going to be high but then Clare's always has things nobody else does. I see they have salvia uliginosa - a stiffly upright salvia with sky blue flowers. Something I've been looking for.
Mary Ann Mcgourty called Clare's one of the best kept secrets of the Hudson Valley. It's a bit far east (east of Route 22) to be in the Hudson Valley but it is sure a great resource.

I'm not familiar with Clare's, though I used to enjoy going the Mcgourty's when they were still public. Where is Clare's? (Not that I plan to buy anything and I probably won't have time once the season really begins anyway, but I always like to know what my options are.)

Clare's is off Route 22 north of Brewster (south of Pawling). Going north from I-84 or south from Rt 55 on Route 22, watch for Haviland Hollow Road on the East side of Rt 22. They are in on Haviland Hollow Road, maybe a mile east of Route 22 (there's a diner on the corner of Haviland & Rt 22). A terrific assortment of choice perennial and annuals including annuals in packs of the same color (three heights of snapdragons in separate colors, several kinds of zinnias in separate colors, several strains of impatiens also in separate colors and so on). Well, if MaryAnn McGourty recommended them, you know they must be good.
