Redwood Trees

I just moved into new construction along the Hudson. There are no trees in the yard. I was at a tree place, planning to get some red maples and maybe some other shade trees and I see this gorgeous 20 ft tree. Guy says its a redwood from Tibet - he'll sell it to me for 150 bucks and plant it for another fifty. Now I'm new at this but it gets colder here than in Oregon, where I think redwoods grow. Tibets pretty cold though. Anyone have any experience or advice about this? - it seems a bit odd. Thanks, jimiboy

RE: Redwood Trees

If you can get it's name, google it. I'm sure you'll find lots of info. With the name, call around to other nurseries for their opinions. Two hundred bucks for a twenty foot tree in the grounds not a bad price tho. Ask if they will guerantee the tree for a year? Some places will.
