Just FYI I recently purchased alot of annuals and some periennals at Leptondale Nursery on Route 300 in Newburgh. I was told the new owners had made great improvments and the plants were super. I spent this past weekend planting my purchases. Here's the scoop. The plants looked pretty healthy but when removing them from the containers they were rootbound beyound description! The only ones that were okay were the Impatiens. I bought a sweet spire,(Itea Virginica)and it was girdled so badly we had to cut the pot away, the roots were wrapped around the shrub at least 6 times! Buyer Beware. I don't know how they get the plants to look so good when the roots are that restricted, must be heavy doses of chemicals. Even the trailing Verbena that looked so good and lush were trapped by their own root systems. I planted what I had and will be watchful of this $100.00 worth of plantings. I'm a pretty decent gardener but, this was a real fool the eye! Pearly

Isn't it annoying when you go to a reputable nursery and don't get the quality you expect? Do they have a guarantee for the plants?

I have been getting my plants at Leptondale nursery for years. The plants are healthy and hearty and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I recommend this place to my friends for gifts if they want to give a beautiful hanging basket of a cute statuary for their garden. Two GREEN thumbs up!

I stopped into Leptondale last week to scout around and thought everything looked great! Am planning to go back in the next few days to buy a trunkload.
