Went to the Poughkeepsie Farm Project open house this morning. Is anyone familiar with it?

Not familiar, if it's the the city of Poughkeepsie I won't go down anyway. Can't stand the city. The farmers market at the Hyde Park drive in on 9 is nice though!

Not in the city, across Hooker from Vassar College, corner of Raymond and Hooker.

I live in the area but have never visited the farm. They're usually written up in the newspaper a couple of times a year in a very positive way.

A teacher I work with has committed to a plot in the community garden. Friends I have always participate in the coop part and get vegetable shares each week during the growing season, but I'd never been there. They scheduled an open house so I went to see what it's like. Also wanted to see if it would work to take my garden club kids there as a field trip. I think I'm going to buy a basic membership which gets you a 10% discount at the farmer's markets downtown and across from Vassar college. Then they have volunteer opportunities like the meditation (herb) garden where I could maybe learn something new from experienced gardeners. I've learned everything I know now through books and Dave's and other forums and blogs. Can't replace seeing someone do it and talking to someone who actually gardens in the same town with the same conditions. Could be interesting. There's another open house next Saturday from 9 to noon if you're interested.

Wish I'd checked the forum again before today, saw your message about the Sat (yesterday?) open house. I think I'd be interested in volunteer opportunities since I grow both herbs and veggies in my yard. Thank you for the information.

Look forward to seeing you there. Candis
