Time for rhubarb pie!

Wow, the rhubarb is gigantic this year, and I just made the first pie of the season! Yum. I love plants that are so easy to grow. It's also quite a handsome foliage plant.

If you don't have any, I recommend it highly.

funny (not to mention incredibly stupid) thing... i had a small, ornamental (ugly and inherited when i bought the house) pine tree removed from a bed near the doggie door last fall and, unlike in previous years, that bed was overwhelmed by what, i decided, were monstrous weeds. but they were cool looking, so i just let 'em go. then came a hail storm and they were decimated, so i whacked away at them to throw into the compost (i would've dug up the roots, but it was too much work for my aching back).

two days later, a guy was working here and wondered how i'd prepared all my rhubarb.

who knew?! next year i'm planning on PIE!

RE: Time for rhubarb pie!

About 30 years ago the across the street neighbors (they had just moved in) proudly showed me the back yard full of 'rhubarb' they had just discovered. I was sorry to tell them it was all dock weed which I have to admit, looks a lot like rhubarb to the untrained eye.
