Time to Spray?

| I'm not a big fan of spraying chemicals, but all my dalhias, hollyhocks, beckys...everything...have chewed leaves. Maybe it's the cold and rainy season. I'm getting tired of picking leaves off the stalks. Anyone else being chewed up? |

| It's definitely been a fun year so far for bugs ... the only problem is that for me, it's just not 1 kind. I've got slugs eating some leaves, white caterpillars defoliating the elderberries, aphids starting on the licorice, something making wandering white lines on the columbine leaves, another something eating the carrot seedlings and basil (probably more slugs) and even spider mites eating the hops (and they like it warm and dry!) On the good side, the early stuff - daffodils, tulips, crocus, etc. seemed to last forever and I haven't had to haul a drop of water yet! I guess I'm just doomed to squishing all kinds of bugs this year. |
