Phoenicia Garden Tour, Sunday, July 18th

A tour of nine private gardens in the Phoenicia area, the heart of the high Catskill peaks, will be held on Sunday, July 18, from 10am to 4 pm, rain or shine.  The tour will showcase local gardens that offer a diverse landscape of perennial and annual beds, wildflower meadows, herb gardens, rock gardens, water gardens, and woodland shade gardens.  Horticulturalist and garden writer Dean Riddle?s Lanesville garden, featured in the June 3 House and Home section of the New York Times, is included in the tour.

Tickets, which cost $20, will go on sale at 9:30 am at the Phoenicia Plaza, one mile east of Phoenicia on State Route 28.  Participants will be provided with a brochure that describes each garden and a tour map, with directions for driving to each location.

The garden tour, part of the Shandaken Bicentennial weekend activities, is a major fund-raiser for the non-profit group Phriends of Phoenicia, for its Main Street Beautification projects.  The group has been active installing and maintaining planters and gardens on Phoenicia?s Main Street.

Thanks for the info! It's right up the road from me. I love these tours. They have done them in Woodstock/Hurley area in the past. Anyone else going?

I wasn't able to make it to this. Did anyone go? I'd love to hear reports.

What's the best way to find out about events like this in the Hudson Valley, especially in the Woodstock/Phoenicia area?
