The Austin rose garden was in excellent shape and in full bloom - a truly astonishing sight. I took some pictures and then made the mistake of stopping by the sales area. Roses were buy four, get one free (that may just have been during the week) so I ended up with Rockin Robbin, Molyneux and Topaz Jewel (my friend got two). Here is a great chance to see what those roses look like in this climate and the answer, is just great, even though the bushes aren't as big as in the south and west. The fragrance of Molyneus is unbelievable - not myrrh, whatever that may be, but pure sweetness.
If you go, it's exit 12 off the Palisades Parkway, go west and then right on Pomona Road at the first light and keep a sharp lookout for the sign and turn left on Summit Park Road. |

We can always count on you for knowledge and experience, thanks. JoAnn Playsinthdirt suggested Matterhorn for Hosta and I recalled seeing a post for the Matterhorn Nursery and sure enough, here it is..thank you...JoAnn |
