Sweet cherries will be ripe this weekend.

And I'll be up in Columbia county getting a pailful. The one time of year when it's possible to actually have more cherries than one can eat. Since you aren't weighed before and after picking, I think I'll plan on skipping lunch in favor or an all you can eat cherry fest.

Wow, it seems a bit early for sweet cherries but I hope you're right. Where do you go in Columbia County? I'm in Ulster and there's never enough on the cherry side since I both eat them and brew with them. Definitely worth a drive dodging the storms this weekend.

Strawberries and sweet cherries are available at several farms on Route 208 in Gardiner--Wright's, Tantillo's, and Dresser's.

Sweet cherries, strawberries, and raspberries were at the Saugerties farm market yesterday.

Thanks, Tantillo's is just down the road from me so I'll give that a try on the cherries.

I pick at Fix Bros, just off Route 9G below the Catskill bridge. There's a sign on the east side of the road with an arrow and after that it's signposted the whole way up the mountain. They were $1.50 a pound and it's a monster crop so I plan to go back tomorrow.
Sour cherris in a week or so and then peaches the end of August.
