I hate squirrels

Two mornings in a row. Two sunflowers hijacked. The squirrels jump on the stalks, and chomp the heads! It's bad enough during the winter I had squirrels in my house -- now they are wrecking the garden. Stinkin' rotten rodents.

My mother and I watched a chipmunk climb the 6 foot high lilies in her flowerbed...up one side and down the other. We're not sure what he was after, but it was interesting to see.

Nothing bad with squirrels, yet, knock on wood. Having a rat take winter refuge is bad enough.

Yeah, don't feel bad...the "little darlings" ate mine last year. They even hung off my back patio roof by their feet to get at one! This year a woodchuck is eating my Phlox and purple coneflowers. I bought a have-a-heart trap and so far all I caught (yesterday) was a small skunk! I think the chuck is wise to the trap.

Thanks, I feel better. But, yes, woodchucks are the WORST! I have one that scales a tree in my backyard like Spiderman. 10 - 15 feet. He had no problem defoliating the entire thing. Where once stood a leafy contributor to photosynthesis there is now a naked, spindly ... memory?

I've had it with the squirrels! In addition to eating at the regular bird feeders and chomping down the sunflowers, this year they have learned to drink from and empty the hummingbird feeder, plus they've eaten every tomato and zucchini that they could reach. Hmmpphhhh!

I do too.
Only thing I've come up with is spraying ro-pel. It's not great when it rains, which it has lately, but keeps them away in dryer weather. I can spray directly on the bulbs or flowers and around the veggie garden. Can't stand them either.

Try using an apple for bait in the havahart trap. Groundhogs (woodchucks) love apples, just don't leave it set overnight because you might wind up with a skunk in the trap.

RE: I hate squirrels

This year the squirrels are really bad. They ate ALL the small green apples on our three large apple trees. No apples this year. Boo-hoo. I hate 'em too.
