Looking for a low plant for sunny, damp (not boggy) area

Hello

I have an area of the garden that water drains to but it does not stay boggy. It gets full sun and at present it is covered in the most incredibly healthy weeds. Any ideas of what I can replace the weeds with that will not get too tall?

Thanks
Stephen

I have the same type of area, and I did two things. One, I bought a lot of sand and mixed it with some compost etc. -- because I didn't want the plant that I did put in to die. (That happened during year one of my efforts.) Then, I put an endless summer hydrangea in. I cut it back every year -- it doesn't get big, but, it's very happy. I also moved a wigliera (can't spell it) over. Around that area are also some shady perennials -- a white bleeding heart, some solomon seal -- it is really mossy, to tell you the truth. But the hydrangea looks nice with some impatiens around.
