| i'm loving nepeta this year - it's been blooming and fabulous for about 6 weeks, but it is now past its prime. Has anyone cut back their catmint like "the books" say, in hopes of a second flush of bloom? When's the right time to do it - so that you enjoy the first flush of bloom to the fullest, but give the plant enough time to bloom again before frost? I'd like to try but i have several large catmint plants and it will leave BIG holes so i keep postponing it.
thanks cara |

| Do it now. I cut back about half each plant a few weeks ago and am now cutting back the other half. Already have a few flowers on the area that was trimmed. I did it from back to front. |

| 2 years ago my landscaper put in 3 catmint plants. Telling us that we should cut them down midway thru the summer. However, I can't cut the plant down as it is swarmming with bees. What can I do? Don't want to harm the bees as they are not the stinging kind. |
