Japanese Beetles this year?

Have you seen many Japanese beetles this year? Usually they're in full force by mid-July, but August's nearly over and I've only, thankfully, seen a few.

I have. I caught 4 quart sized jars of them this year. About the same as last year. I'm in Town of Poughkeepsie. Bayer Rose and flower spray also works well on bushes and flowering plants and lasts about 2 weeks. Kills them fast.

Hello. Last year I had much more Japanese Beetles. They would literally cover my beautiful rose bush and eat any bud that would even start to grow. This year I have had some, but not even close to the same number as last year. Just a tip for the future: A mouthwash and water mixture always seems to work on my plants for a natural alternative to rid insects from my plants. You do have to reapply from time to time and after rain, but it much better than spraying chemicals.

Thankfully, this year has been very low in JBs, and I do not spray. Maybe the cool, rainy, sunless days were less than hospitable to the little devils. Or the local skunks really did their job this Spring and got many grubs? I am a bit to the south of you in Putnam County.
