Columbine blooming now?

I had 4 beautiful columbines this year, which bloomed nicely in the spring. All of a sudden, I have 5 flowers on one of them, they just bloomed this week. Isn't this wierd? I thought columbines were spring bloomers. Nonetheless, I'm certainly not complaining!

Not my columbine, but I've noticed other things blooming that I thought were supposed to be done for the year. For example, foxglove. I actually saw a posting on one forum about this. Seems to be happening with lots of perineals this year.

I saw on the Upstate New York forum that an iris had just bloomed. Guess it is a freak thing this year.

I also have a white german iris in bloom, same as last year. There are some that are reblooming and some that just bloom in the fall. I think this is its first time out. I wish I had columbine blooming. They are my favorites.

Columbine are so pretty, especially for this time of year. It is just such a nice surprise considering that winter is around the corner. Kind of makes you forget what we are in for!
