Anyone finding sales at local nurseries this fall of perennials, shrubs and other plants, please advise here so that all can benefit. I especially like the year end sales at Adams..

RE: Fall Nursery Sales

Hi Wayne,
I was at the Adams in Lake Katrine today, and it was pretty uninspiring. A lot of the stock looked pretty crappy, and it was only 20% off shrubs and 25% off trees. They did have a few 7-foot 'Oridono Nishiki' Japanese maples for $57.50, but other than that for me it was mostly kind of ordinary stuff. I didn't have much time, though, so I just gave a quick look. What were you hoping to score?

I haven't found any nursery sales. I just check Walmart and Home Depot everytime I go and have actually gotten quite a few things for betwen $1.25 and $3.00.

Of course you have to look through everything as pickings are slim and a lot of the stuff is half dead, but the plants that I found were very healthy looking and are doing quite well.

Addendum re: Adams. Went again today, now some shrubs (viburnum, lilac) are 50% off. Not much selection. Also fruit bushes and trees 50% off. Other shrubs and perennials 25-30% off. BTW I was wrong about the Japanese maples--they are NOT $57.50 but rather a decent bit over $100. Sorry!
