Is it too late to plant my bulbs?

Hi there,

I'm in North Yonkers, NY and, and due to a death in the family have had to delay my fall planting until now. I have about 75 tulips, some jetfire daffodils, alliums and perrenial lily bulbs. I was going to try to plant them this week, but we have that big freeze warning for the next few days. The weekend is supposed to be around 60F and low 40's at night. If I plant now, will the bulbs have enough time to get established before another freeze happens?

It's Wednesday, Oct. 22

Thanks for your help!

It's definitely not too late!!! If you can make a hole to plant the bulb, i.e. the ground hasn't frozen solid yet, you can plant the bulbs. I'd say you probably have until at least Nov 20-30 to do it. I'm a professional landscaper and we haven't even begun to plant bulbs yet, still planting trees and shrubs. I like to go to the big stores at the end of the season to buy some of their left overs at 75% discount and I take some to Thanksgiving dinner for the kids to plant. It's become part of the holiday tradition, gives them something to look forward to 'after winter'
