Pachysandra wilting in fall?

Posted by Nathaniel NY (My Page) on

please help a new gardener -- and one who put a thousand pachy plants down early this spring. As the weather cools (we're by the Mohonk Preserve in New Paltz, and it was 25° a few mornings ago) the pachy plants are looking really wilty. I presume they are getting sufficient water. What should they look like as winter sets in?

thanks
Nathaniel

I'm not sure about p. but I do know that similar plants with waxy evergreen leaves like rhododendrons will conserve water when frozen, by curling up and looking wilted. Maybe that's all it is.
