More early blooming

Today I noticed that a couple of my hellebore are actually flowering, and several more have flowerbuds. Does any one know if these flowers will die off once we get a period of real freezing weather ? I've only been growing these about 2 years, so I'm not sure how they react to this unusual weather pattern we're in.
Also, more of the spring bulbs have broken thru the soil, but I'm not sure which ones they are - might be scillia. I'm guessing these will be goners if they get far enough to form flower buds. Would there be any chance if I piled on more mulch ?

Happy new Year everyone.
We'll soon have answers to some of these questions. My Hellebore are also heavy in bud, the snowdrops are popping up and the daffodils are up almost an inch. I was thinking that mulch will insulate the ground from freezing if the night temps drop below freezing. I wish I knew what to do with this unseasonably warm weather. I WANT A LITTLE FREEZING AND SNOWING. I dont really like winter except for the r & r it provides me as a gardener, but yesterday I was compelled to go out and weed out the chickweed that is taking over my perennial bed this winter. And I discovered a lot of vole trails under the leftover leaves that I hadnt removed yet. Well, there appears to be time still. I'll do some more weeding today.

Well, this is a first for me. I have English daisies blooming and my Dutch irises have large flower buds. I think I'll have to cut them and bring them in. Crocuses just popped up today and look like they will flower in a few days. I've been picking scented violets continuously since the fall.

I planted lettuce seeds last week, just for fun to see what happens. Very weird weather.

Well, the foliage came up on my beloved daylilies late last month. Now, with the return of freezing weather, I'm wondering if I can kiss them goodbye for the 2007 growing season. Anyone have any experience with this? I know that when this has happened with my bearded irises in the past, they've not bloomed in the spring. @#$%# global warming!

Daylilies should be OK. They'll send up more foliage if what they have now dies. I've got snowdrops blooming and pussies on the daphne willow. The hellebores will probably be OK too - and hopefully we'll get some snow before the temperatures drop down below .
