Hummingbird Garden

Are there hummers near me?

I live in Arlington MA (west of Boston) and would like to attract some hummingbirds. I already have some inviting flowers and plan to buy feeders and follow the instructions I've read on the site.

However, someone recently told me that very few hummingbirds come to this area because we are off of their migration path or something like that.

Is that true? How can I find out if this is a good area for attracting hummers?

Check this map and you will see where the hummingbirds went last spring. I think you will see there were hummingbirds in your area. You will also find out when you can expect them.

Here is another 2007 map for you to check. This is the one I start checking out about the middle of February. My hummers arrive during the first two weeks of March. I live in the southeast corner of Alabama.
