hummingbird--- You can put your feeder in the sun , but I suggest you change the nectar at least every couple of days during the summer. Go back to whatever you were doing when you were getting 20 hummers, just remember to keep your nectar fresh. I have feeders that sit in the sun almost all day and get plenty of use. Whether they empty your feeders or not change them every 2 or 3 days.

Hummersteve is right-
I do not have many shady places, so all of my feeders are in the sun for at least part of the day, and my front yard feeders are in the sun all day long. It is a problem I cannot help. What I do is change my feeders OFTEN!

As a matter of fact I actually change all seven feeders daily in July and August. I really do not think that is necessary and I may go to every other day this year. It is a real chore changing them daily.

Even though my feeders are in the sun I still had a yard full of hummers last year using all the feeders. There were times when I had birds at 6 of the seven feeders. If you keep them very clean and change formula often( at least every other day in the hot days of summer) it will be okay.

My hummingbirds showed no preference for the feeders in the shade.

I got a new H.bird feeder and I've never seen so many bees.. which I don't care about the bees but will the hummers still come? Also this feeder is near my wild bird feeders.. is that stopping my Cardinals and Woodpeckers?
I'm thinking I should move it.. but why are the bees all over this one and not the others?
