Congrats Steve. I saw my first just a few minutes ago here in SW VA. It looked like a male. It checked out the water spout on my outside fountain, then landed near it and drank. He did not go to my feeder. I put fresh sugar water in it and hopefully will get a closer look. I am soooooo excited to have them back!!! It is COLD here today and snow expected in the mountains. Coldest day in weeks...strange that my first sighting would be today.

I was surprised to see my visitor today too it is cold here in south central indy. And we have a freeze warning in a lot of the state tonight.

Congrats, Steve!! He was right on schedule!

Between the two of us, we have well over 100 resident hummers, yet not one of them arrived early. This leads me to believe that most of those extremely early sightings were reported by trolls - not the kind that live under bridges, but the kind that live in their Moms' basements.
