I don't know the answer to your question.... but I say... Count Your Blessings. I have had my feeder up several weeks and not seen anyone! I had one beauty here in GA last year who would nott let anyone else drink rom "HER" feeder. She would dive bomb any other hummingbird who tried She would sit in the topmost branch of a specific dogwood tree and gaurd "HER" feeder!.... So this year I put up two feeders... Except now I don't have any hummingbirds!!!!

I dont know the answer to your problem either other than it sounds like no red on the feeder. I dont buy decorative pretty to look at feeders. I just get the cheap ones that are easy to clean, I have pp209 , first nature and the little 3oz jobbies since they like those. I also have used hummzinger types and I have not had hummers reject any of the above mentioned feeders.

Also I have not had any hummers here yet but should show up any day now. I usually get them between 4-30 to 5-4.

Susan, I would agree that if there is no "red" on the new feeder, that may be the problem. I tend to use whatever works for them and me! My fav is the First Nature feeders I buy at Walmart. Hold lots of nectar, EASY to clean, lots of ports and perches.
