If there's a thing called spring fever, is there also something called "hummingbird fever?" It comes at about the same time of year as spring fever and some of the symptoms are constant checking of the hummer migration maps, turning your guest room into a hummingbird plant nursery, spending far too much on hummingbird plants, wistfully staring out the window at feeders, and frequent posting on hummingbird forums. I think there IS something called "Hummingbird Fever" and I've got it bad.

Looking at those photos makes me want them back so bad, but if it's the same timing as last year, I've still got 10 days to go!

Did you notice the strange bumps on the upper part of the bill of the bird in the second picture? The bird in the first picture doesn't seem to have them, so these must be two different birds. I wonder how he got those bumps--an injury, a disease, a developmental problem? I wonder.
