Im guessing that in the summer your temps sometimes reach triple digits maybe often. Hummer nectar can spoil rather quickly in that kind of heat and it is said hummers will not eat it as so. If the mix looks cloudy change it. The usual hummer nectar mix 1-4 sugar to water. Also yes I would imagine migration would be a longer season for you and you should have hummers at least into sept. Also some good hummer attracting plants are :

salvia coccinea -- lady in red, coral nymph , subrotunda
salvia guaranitica-- black and blue
lobelia cardinalis-- cardinal flower
cuphea-- david verity, shumannii
bee balm
agastache--- rupestris, tutti frutti

I mention these just to name a few hummer staples , there are many more that attract hummers.

Sounds like you are doing what you can. My hummers love a flowering vine with red tubular flowers. Cardinal Climber Vine is a favorite. Keep that nectar fresh. It's really important. Until you get your hummers back, no need to fill the feeders with a ton of nectar. Just a little in a couple of feeders seems about right. Put the feeders near a window where you often look out. You can even buy little window hanger hooks which enable you to hang the feeder onto the window. That way, you are less likely to miss them when they come by. Good luck. :o)

Hi , We live in casselberry florida ...central florida near orlando.We recently moved into our home.It had alot of overgrown greenage that we have trimmed back and have planted cape honeysuckle, bounginvilla, four oclocks. milk weed in pots for now from seeds then will transplant..also going for hibiscus now. We are goin to make a viewing area from window in the kichen...hope to attract hummers ,any more suggestions on flowers to plant in that area thanks.

Should hummingbird feeders be placed near seed feeders?

The hummers favorite plant in my yard in southeast Alabama is the black and blue salvia mentioned above, as well as the Lady in Red Salvia. They seem to like the Pentas too.
