New foxgloves shipped to me

They are in a 4 inch pot, some branches have cracked and bent, other have leaves that have wilted. There is like about one stem that is completely healthy among there though. How would I go about cleaning this pot and encourage a healthy foxglove to grow?

Second question I'm about to transplant them into a flower bed, how deep should the soil be, and what kind of soil should I use? When I go ahead and plant what spacing do I need for each plant?

Thank in advance guys.
