I've read that hummers like some hibiscus, but when I lived in Florida I never saw any near mine. Cigar plant is another good one you might try down there.

Salvia, salvia and salvia!

I also plant with the hummers in mind. The #1 plant for my hummers is the salvia guaranitica "Black and Blue" (B&B). My local Lowe's has it in stock now. I bought my plant last year. B&B will keep growing wider and wider until you stop it. I do not consider it invasive, however. With our sandy soil, it's easy to pull up a sprout when it begins to overgrow its space. When the hummer is in my garden, I can always count on seeing it at the B&B.

Another salvia that the hummer stops at is the salvia microphylla "Hot Lips". Again, the hummer gives the individual blossoms a methodic going over.

Finally, I have pink salvia coccinea growing outside my office window and frequently see the hummer carefully sipping at individual blossoms. The plant is also known as scarlet sage. Flower colors are red, pink and white. I have separate beds of each. It self seeds generously so once you plant it you won't have to replant.
