Do snakes grab hummers?

I have several large stocktank watergardens.

I would like to plant flowers around the bottom of one, on one side. But.....there's a nest of snakes living under one of my lily containers that I turned upside down last fall, about 1-2' from this area.

I was going to plant flowers that I know hummers like (shorter ones so they don't fall over), but started wondering if I'm tempting fate by doing this so close to where several snakes live.

They are northern water snakes. Let me know what you think.

Oh.....and I'm not getting rid of the snakes, so please no suggestions to do that! :)
