Im not familiar with black chinned but does your bird have a purple band below the black. Check out this site and see if it helps you.

Black-chinned males don't show nearly that much white on the neck/upper breast as this bird does. My guess is it is a male Rufous Hummingbird. See the extensive white in the picture below (not mine but gotten from the internet)

Birding_nut, you could just post a link next time, accomplishes the same thing, keeps your tookus out of firing range :o

All three of those pics from ams2009 are pretty dark, but the first one does look like a ruby-throated. I think they were taken in shade with maybe a little too slow a speed to get a clear image. If you can lighten up the first image you may be able to get a better look at the bird.

I agree with seamommy. The first few sightings I had were shaded and looked the same but after I saw them in sun light the red showed.
