Ignoring feeder

For several weeks now I've had a feeder hanging in a magnolia tree in my front yard. Every few days I've been changing the nectar and cleaning it. Picture included in this post.

Not the typical feeder design as you can see.

Haven't had any luck until Thursday. Was in my kitchen and glanced out the window at the tree to see a tiny dark form flittering around the feeder. Upon closer inspection it was indeed a hummer! It kept backing back and forth and buzzing around the feeder, and then to my disapointment it flew away. Haven't had a visitor since. I'm thinking maybe they can't figure out how to use it. Should I consider getting a new feeder of the more commonly seen kind? The Perky Pet feeder comes to mind. Or should I just try and remain patient?

Here is a link that might be useful: Hummsicle
