I saw no hummers until a few days ago, but I've now seen a couple several times. Their appearance in my yard is coincident with the blooming of several flowers(finally). We've had a cold second half of spring so it took a while for things to really bloom. Of course, if I didn't have a flower garden it's quite possible I still wouldn't have any hummer visitors.

Their visits here have been sporadic. One today came and visited while i was watering plants, they love a fine spray of water.

It must be certain flowers early on that draw them away. The annual salvias i plant, i think the rabbits eat the blooms as soon as i plant them. Its supposed to help flowering later on to pinch them back anyway.

Mine have always arrived the last week of April or the first week in May. I saw a male on May 4th for an instant and then he was gone. I saw one female on May 16th. and she was gone and now I am back to waiting to see if they are even still in the area. Never had this kind of a season.

I have only seen one and only once. I went out the other day and there where black ants all over the feeder. AARGH I was so mad. So new fresh food and still no hummer. Oh well I was hoping and I'm still waiting here on the outskirts of Indianapolis.
