wine and roses plant

They told me at the garden center that the wine and roses plant would attract hummers. It doesn't even attract bees, lol. It's full of pink flowers but now they're starting to turn brown. Should I prune them or is this the end of flowers for this year?

Is this the Wine and Roses Weigelia shrub that you are referring to? If so it has one good bloom period and sometimes in late summer or fall you will get another light flush of blooms but that is about it. If you do prune it, it should be done immediately after blooming because it starts to set the buds for next year immediately after flowering.

Penny, I guess that's what it is. They told me it's relatively new. Thanks for the information. I knew someone would know on this site.

I have about 15 Weigela, Wine & Roses. They bloom at this time each Spring in SE PA. All 15 are in full bloom and the hummingbirds visit them.

I DO have it close to my chairs and table so maybe that's the problem, but I still only see the smallest bees or bugs on it. Oh well, I don't have room to move it so I guess I'm stuck. Thanks again.
