| I recently put up a new feeder and have had several hummingbirds visit it almost right away. However, they don't actually seem to be drinking any of the nectar, just buzzing around. I have been replacing the nectar every 2-3 days and keeping it very clean. BUt the level of nectar stays the same.
What could be keeping these little guys from successfully feeding? Also I am wondering what the best height is for either flowers or feeders?? thanks! |

| They will definitely drink the nectar if you keep changing it so faithfully! They probably have been already; you may just not have noticed. The only issue may be blocked feeding ports. But if you're cleaning it regularly, that shouldn't be an issue. Also, be sure to use a 4:1 water to sugar ratio for the nectar. Height isn't a big issue for the hummers, although usually the lower it is, the quicker they will find the feeder/flowers. I have hummers nesting 60' above the ground in my tulip poplars, so they're certainly not afraid of heights! =) |
