I think you're talking about the new design on First Nature feeders sold at Wal Mart. To me, they don't look safe. It would be so easy for the tapered beak to get wedged in that slit. If you get one, use a 1/8" drill bit to make a hole in each slit - that would probably make it safer. Drill the hole so the beak would go thru it at a normal angle.

I had two of those last year, the wasps didn`t have any trouble taking them over and on a breezy day, they did slosh nectar. I have since switched to all Hummzinger feeders. No bee or wasp problems and no dripping. Hooray!!!!!
