Hummingbird Garden

I Feel Sorry for my Little Male Hummer

In my Hummer Bed, he comes every day to sip from the feeder. My Raspberry Wine started blooming crazy last week and he was wild over it.

Then came the huge bees (the ones that have yellow on them). Now, all day (every day) the Monarda is covered with tons of these bees.

He hasn't been interested in the Bee Balm since.

Are some cultivators different than others (as far as colors), or am I just lucky to have all of these huge bees.

I think it depends on what these 'huge bees' really are. If they're carpenter bees (shiny behind), well, you have my sympathies. I know, they're valuable pollinators, but they're mean, nasty & very aggressive. I can't deadhead my white buddleia unless it's a lousy day (raining or about to rain), they're always dive bombing me. If they're regular bumblebees (fuzzy behind), then yes, lucky indeed. I just love them!
I guess I have such a variety of flowers that my bumbleebees prefer over my monardas (coneflowers & swamp milkweed are loaded daily), which don't much action. It seems like my hummers have the Jacob Cline all to themselves ;)
