Two weeks would be a long time IME, but I put out multiple feeders to help minimize the problem when it happens, which always consists of a male chirper setting up home base on a tree twig or sunflower stem. The latter I can at least cut down, bwahahaha. If it turned out that he disappeared because he died, I can't say I'd shed many tears over the event, because I'm too busy enjoying his absence.
