A Troubling Image

Warning: Do not click on following link if you are sqeamish. This about a problem best-1 feeders had a few years ago. In best-1's behalf I will state they have redesigned their feeders and anyone who has one or who buys one now would be perfectly fine. Its just that I cannot get beyond this image and anytime someone mentions best-1 or I see it mentioned this is the image that immediately flashes thru my head and I cannot get rid of it. Many forum members are quite aware of this image , but some of the new members may not be. At any rate I can never knowingly purchase one of their products.

I don't believe the old style feeders are available any more. In fact I haven't even seen many of the new style feeders.

OMG --- that breaks my heart! I've never heard of Best 1 feeders.

I will say that I ordered 3 Hummzinger feeders and I can't wait to put them out!

Best 1 feeders are recommended by professionals. We try not to use anything else.

Best one feeders have an extended port as described in the article. This keeps the wasps and bees out. I have never seen the old style perch design so I don't know how long ago this was, but have one that I have used for 2 years without any problem.

Best-1 is located in Poteet, Texas. Not far from where I live.
In an earlier post here about feeder solutions, I posted the label contents of Best-1 Hummingbird Instant Nectar. I didn't name the company then, but do now. I made fun of it beacuse it was just plain sugar.
I don't trust Best-1.

the only hummingbird nectar mixes you should buy are 100% sugar. the instant nectar mixes are refined differently so that they will dissolve completely in cool water. These mixes are a convenience item that speeds up the process of making and putting out the nectar. Any other ingredients are unnecessary and potentially dangerous.
