Hummingbird Garden

hummingbird experts...what do you think?

One of my parrots is a brightly feathered Sun Conure (nearly neon yellow and orange). Once a week for the past ten years I've take him outside for a shower in his small "outside" cage. On more than one occasion a hummingbird has either approached his cage (while he was drying off and preening)and has tried to get to him or has simply hovered around the cage with great interest. What is your best guess at what the hummers intentions are? Do they think he is bloom or plume?!lol!

I'm guessing the hummers think your parrot is a flower -- cute story! That's funny that the hummer keeps returning, too -- must be really intent on getting that flower :)

DH and I think they think he's a flower too. He's actually been approached by several different hummers. We know because it has also happened while living in two other cities. Sometimes he snaps his beak at the hummer if he gets too close. I can imagine him thinking "yeah, I got your flower right here, buddy!"
