trumpet vine and turk's cap questions

Do hummers really like trumpet vine? I have tons of it on the back fence but have never seen hummers at it.

I have access to a very large bed of turk's cap that I can help myself to. What is the best way to get some? The principal at the school where it is located said the fall, before Oct. 15 (North Texas)is a good time to thin it out.

Thanks,

Sherry

Yes, October would be a good time to transplant. Your hummers will love it!

Trumpet vine is supposed to attract hummers, perhaps you have something else that they like better???

txspice has a good point. I have many flowers hummers are suppose to love that I barely see them visit. They seem to prefer my butterfly bushes and morning glory.

They seem to like the trumpet vines later in the season. Maybe that is when the nectar is sweeter.
