It is hard for one to know exactly what to do in this situation. Certainly feeders should be rather high and away from a thick garden cluster where a cat could hide.

I can only tell you what I have seen here. I have seen cats stroll between houses at a time when migration is heavy as it is now , and they seem to pretty much ignore these birds maybe because they are just too fast or they have easier game in mind in the field across the street. I have yet to see a cat go across the street and not find somthing to eat a mouse or whatever. I have not seen a cat purposely be in hiding in my yard for hummers, doesnt mean it hasnt happened. Truthfully in my yard Im more concerned about a hiding praying mantis than a cat.

Not afraid of the feeders, just the LIR. I will keep an eye out and then decide if I want to talk to the neighbor. Honestly though I do not see them leaving the cat inside, and there is nothing else they could do to keep it out of my yard.

Sounds like an excuse to buy a Super Soaker.

The cats that visit me like to do their business on the threshold to my doors. That really ticks me off, more so than digging around in mulch and doing it there, which ain't no picnic, either. I've also found spit-up bird carcasses (not hummers, songbirds) on my driveway. Then there's the all-night yowling. Sorry cat lovers, but your precious pets are nothing but plain old vermin when allowed to roam free. Super-soak on sight, I say, are the rules of engagement. :)
