Cardinal flower problems!!

Hello everyone!!!

Well here is the story I had Cardinal flower last year and it was georgous and the Hummers loved it. This year it started growing and the RABBITS loved it, so I fenced it, and now the stalks just seem to wither away, so the one plant that had georgous stalks and started to get blooms have withered to nothing. So no flowers for the Hummers.

Has anyone had this problem???

Thanks Lary

RE: Cardinal flower problems!!

I'm growing cardinal flowers in my mostly sun bog garden and they are doing extremely well. These flowers do love lots of water!! rich soil, lots of water - they should do well.

I am having the same problem. No one can answer why. If you hear anything please let me know.

I've always had problems with this plant, but only when growing from seed. It would wither and die on me, never succeeding. I finally purchased a plant, and all is well. I have mine in full sun and water it daily. I rarely fertilize; maybe once or twice during the growing season with Miracle-Gro; that's it. Sorry I can't help :(
