Feeder location experiences

This is what I've found so far with locating my feeders in shade vs. sun. First, we have very little shade available - nothing around the house, etc. So, I put most of the feeders in sun, changing nectar every other day. The ones I've put in shade meet up with ants every so often due to leaves dropping into the ant moat and the ants take full advantage of a "bridge" to the feeder. We're at over 100 degrees here and although I would prefer all the feeders in the shade, it simply is not available nor practical.
