Poor little guy doesn't know yet how to sit and feed. I read that Mama brings them to the feeders to show them how to use them. Guess he had to figure it out for himself, or Mama taught him on a different kind of feeder.

If you think it is a juvenile maybe that explains why later that day I had to rescue a hummingbird from the greenhouse it had ventured into. Luckily I went out to take more video at the feeder and noticed him in the greenhouse. If I had not gone out again he probably would have died from heat exhaustion. I was able to take video of the rescue.

Poor things, their instincts are to try to fly higher, and they can't get out that way. Thanks for the video showing the rescue and him coming back to feed. I'm sure they recover fast once they get a shot of sugar.

It's a juvie or a female, but I'm sure a year-old female would have figured out how to sit down to eat. The books say juveniles blunder around for a while learning how things are done.
