Hello Florida!!!! The ruby throats and rufous are just starting to move through here now so it will be a little while until they reach your haven but it sounds like a marvelous oasis. Be patient, remember, if you plant it - they will come - but it will be in their own time!

I posted on one of the other discussions, but sounds like you may be near me ... I put up two feeders on Monday and had a male ruby-throat yesterday morning. Be patient, they will find you.

I did try something new this year I read on another site - I tied the bright pink surveyors tape in several of the taller plants to catch their attention. Maybe just a coincidence, but might be worth a try.

Oh wow, where are you located exactly, if you dont mind me asking? I live in Saint Petersburg. I just bought my first hummingbird feeder today and hung it up this afternoon under the tree so it has some shade. I put my red CHAIR near it hoping that the COLOR will attract them as well. The feeder has red flowers all over it but the liquid is white. I have four red chairs in my backyard. I also have red pentas, bottlebrush plants that have buds in it, it will be blooming very soon. Keeping my fingers crossed! I will be in heaven if ONE comes!

I hope the feeder does the trick. The nectar/food should be clear though. Not white.
