Lots of activity

I have been getting lots more hummers than usual lately, and a lot of them seem to be this years crop of juvies. When the adults arrive in the spring, they go straight to the feeders and pretty much ignore any blooming plants.

The young'uns seem to favor the flowers. When they do use the feeders, it is almost a hit and run. It is like they don't understand there is more than one drop in there!!

Here is a thumbnail of one of the local juvie males on bat-faced cuphea. I was thinking I had wasted my money on those until last week.

davemidohio, that's a great shot. Another female showed up and has more energy than the male, and chases him all over. I think she's even faster. I'm guessing she's a juvie.
