Luckily for this Hummingbird I decided to take some more video at the feeder and noticed this guy had gotten into the greenhouse which was getting pretty hot today in the late afternoon sun. I had left the door open for some more ventilation. There is nothing flowering in the greenhouse so I do not know what attracted him into it. Luckily he was so tired he did not move when I reached up to get him and I was able to get him on the first try. I set up the camera after I released him and hope that that was the one I caught on video after the release.

She may have been hunting for insects, which are a large part of their diet. Is there anything red in the greenhouse. They can be attracted to the red string that hangs down from the gargage door mechansim. My neighbor had to paint hers to keep a hummer out.

Next time you might want to offer it sugar water before you release it. When a bander catches a hummer to band, he will usually offer a drink before releasing it to make sure it has the energy to fly. Guess it helps with the stress level of being captured.
