Hummingbird Garden

First hummer sighted at dusk (Houston) and question

I know some people who have seen them a while back here in Houston, but last year I saw them at August when I first put the feeders up, I put them up this year since March with none to come until today August 18, I saw 3 different hummers come to the feeder. 2 males, one female...Ruby Throats.

Was wondering though since I have nectar plants in a bed next to the feeders, the plants are low to the ground from not being fully grown yet, but yet have a lot of blooms on them, will the hummers go down there and drink or no?

I have seen ruby throats on my yellow lantana quite a few times, and they appeared to be nectaring on the flowers. Not sure what type of lantana it is but grows very close to the ground, almost like a ground cover, it spreads out.
