Just spot a hummer came to feed

I haven't seen a humming bird for weeks now, but today a female humming bird came to feeder twice. I quickly put fresh sugar water out. Don't recall seeing a humming bird this late in the season before. I live in philadelphia suburb, zone 6.

Hi, Sara. I'm in zone 6 St Louis. I still have at least two (seeing chases every day). Keep that feeder up!

Sept. 25. The female hummer came to feeder again. This is really late, is she everbgoing to migrate?

Sara, last year I had a little guy who stayed til the third wk of October. The nights were near freezing. I think they leave when they are fat enough to have the strength to keep going til they find new food.

The littlest ones, born in a second breeding are the likeliest ones to be still hanging around. But because they're the littlest, they need our help even more, I figure.

Last hummer I saw was Tuesday morning, Sept. 24 here in Sun Prairie WI. They have been really busy in the past couple of weeks at the feeder. I was even able to shoot some video of two females at the feeder at the same time. Unheard of with the birds in my yard. Usually if one is in the feeder and another one comes along they chase each other around until the "top dog" wins out for feeding privileges. I'll keep the feeder out for a while in case some other migrating hummers come along and need a meal.
