Hummingbird Garden

First hummer of the season - adult male

Our first hummer arrived on Monday, Aug.29th but I couldn't tell if it was a male or female. It hovered near the feeder but didn't drink. Didn't see one for the next day or so but on Thursday an adult male came to the feeder to drink, hovered the entire time and also used the plants.

Today, I saw it several times, and finally this evening it landed and fed at the feeder. I don't know for sure if it is the same one as earlier this week but I can say for sure I have an adult male Ruby-throated. Yeah!

Yeah is right! It is so exciting to know these little creatures seek out our yards. Hopefully he brings a big family with him.
